A man thought to be British has been fatally shot in the street in the Costa del Sol , as police begin a manhunt for the killer. The murder took place around 8.15pm on Monday evening in the popular Brit holiday hotspot of Calahonda , nestled between Marbella and Fuengirola. Authorities were on the hunt overnight for the suspected killer, who is thought to have made his escape in a vehicle that was later discovered burnt out nearby. The deadly incident occurred on Don Jose de Orbaneja Street, home to the renowned Club del Sol tennis and padel club, as well as the neighbouring Finca Naundrup holiday resort with its sports facilities. By the time police and paramedics arrived at the scene, the victim had already passed away. Local residents reported hearing between eight and ten gunshots, leading authorities to describe the incident as a shootout. The area was swiftly put on lockdown following the shooting. Shortly after the incident, a Cupra vehicle with foreign plates was found torched nearby. Insiders revealed that weapons were discovered inside the car. Investigators are currently working on the theory that this was the getaway vehicle, intentionally set ablaze by the shooter and potential accomplices. The victim's nationality has not yet been officially confirmed by the police, partly due to the pending post-mortem. However, sources close to the ongoing investigation described the victim as British, suggesting he was a 30 year old man from Liverpool. The Guardia Civil police force is currently investigating the murder. A Brit expat took to social media to share the shocking news, believing the incident unfolded at Club del Sol, although the fuzz haven't confirmed the exact location on the street: "Anyone know what happened at Club del Sol? Heard gunshot-like sounds then lots of police." In response, another Brit chimed in with: "Apparently a guy was shot seven times. Police lockdown." Meanwhile, a third user on a local expat forum revealed: "It happened on the slip road down towards Finca Naundrup outside Club del Sol. My son was at the football pitch from 8pm when I dropped him off and is finally home now." The same person commented on the tense situation late Monday night: "No one is allowed to leave there yet. Police still there." A Scot expat also weighed in, saying: "I was playing padel at Finca Naundrup earlier. Glad I missed it." Just last week, a 34 year old bloke was rushed to Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella after getting shot outside a nightclub in the renowned Costa del Sol resort. The drama kicked off around 4.30am on Good Friday. Eyewitnesses reported that the shooter legged it in a getaway car. The injured party ended up in hospital with a bullet wound to the shoulder.
