Most singles score their biggest sales week when they’re brand new. Fans of major artists usually rush to platforms like Amazon and iTunes to support a just-released cut and turn it into as big of a hit as possible.
That’s not what happened with Chappell Roan’s "Pink Pony Club." That tune, which has now been out for several years, is only finally earning its due when it comes to sales. This week, it becomes a very special win for the recently-anointed Grammy winner.
"Pink Pony Club" Finally Hits No. 1
"Pink Pony Club" jumps to No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart this week. The tune gallops from fifth place to the summit, and in doing so, it becomes a rare smash for Roan.
Chappell Roan’s First No. 1 Smash
The catchy "Pink Pony Club" marks Roan's first No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart. The Billboard tally ranks the bestselling tracks throughout the country, regardless of language or style.
"Pink Pony Club" Sells Very Well
Luminate reports that in the past tracking frame, "Pink Pony Club" sold a little under 6,300 copies. That’s up almost 4% from the period before, but it is still a shockingly small sum for the bestselling track in America. This is a quiet frame in terms of top-selling tunes, it turns out, but Roan still manages to beat her competition, Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” by several hundred sales.
