Cub Scout Pack 734 held its annual Blue and Gold Banquet on March 9 at the St. James Catholic Church Parish Hall in Solana Beach. The Blue and Gold Banquet, a cherished tradition, commemorates the founding of the Boy Scouts of America (now Scouting America) and serves as a time to reflect on the values and achievements of scouting, according to a news release.
The Blue and Gold ceremony celebrates Arrow of Light Cub Scouts in Pack 734 as they bridge to Troop 713 and Troop 782, marking a significant milestone in their scouting journey. Pack 734 also added an element of fun and creativity to the event with a lively cake-decorating contest and entertaining skit performances by the cub scouts.
Joe Kellejian, the president of the Optimist Club of Del Mar-Solana Beach, which proudly serves as Pack 734’s chartered organization, delivered an inspiring speech. In his address, Kellejian shared a piece of personal scouting memorabilia, underscoring the deep impact scouting has had on his life and emphasizing the timeless values of leadership, service, and community, the news release stated.
Pack 734 serves both girls and boys who attend schools in Carmel Valley, Del Mar, Solana Beach, and Encinitas. Monthly meetings and activities are hosted by the group, which is sponsored by the Optimist Club of Del Mar-Solana Beach. As part of the Rancho San Luis Rey District in the San Diego-Imperial Council of Scouting, Pack 734 remains dedicated to fostering a sense of community, leadership, and personal growth among its members, the news release noted.
