Isiah Thomas is already famous for an epic beef with Michael Jordan that kept him off the 1992 Olympic Dream Team.
Now he has a problem with LeBron James.
Thomas took issue with LeBron fro warming up shirtless and in a durag before the Lakers game against the Rockets on Friday night at Arena in Los Angeles.
“I just totally, 100 percent object to this,” Thomas said on the NBA TV broadcast. “If I was the GM, the coach, I would never let one of my players walk out on the floor looking like this. I mean we are [the] professional NBA league. We ain’t Summer League. We ain’t at the YMCA.”
LeBron warmed up for the game wearing gray sweatpants but no shirt. He ended up going for 14 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds as the Lakers dominated the Rockets, 140-109.
Luka Doncic poured in 39 points as the Lakers clinched the No. 3 seed in the West.
But Thomas was more concerned about the declining standards in the NBA for how players dress and behave.
“I just think the professionalism in our NBA league has diminished so much,” Thomas said. “Look, I like LeBron, I’m a fan of his, so forth and so on. But to walk out on the floor before a game with no shirt on and shoot, I mean c’mon man. Where are we at? What are we doing? Where are we at? Adam Silver, if you want to fine somebody, fine that. Put a fine on that.”
In 2007, when Thomas was coaching the Knicks, Madison Square Garden executive Anucha Browne Sanders alleged that she was sexually harassed by Thomas. Although Thomas maintained his innocence, a jury found that the Garden improperly fired Browne Sanders for complaining about the unwanted advances.
“I will own up to what I did and the mistakes that I made, but I can’t own up to things that I didn’t do,” Thomas told ESPN’s Hannah Storm in a 2015 interview that aired on SportsCenter. “... I did not call her derogatory names. Just didn’t happen.”
