The Solana Beach School District has named Ken Wall as its new director of capital facilities and technology after the board approved his contract at the March 13 meeting. Wall comes to Solana Beach from the Poway Unified School District where he had served as the director of information technology (IT) since 2019.
“We are excited to welcome Ken Wall to the Solana Beach School District,” said Superintendent Jennifer Burks in a news release. “His expertise in strategic planning, technology integration, and operational leadership will be instrumental in ensuring our facilities and infrastructure support an engaging and secure learning environment for each and every student. We are confident that his contributions will positively impact our schools, staff, and community as we continue to advance innovation and excellence in education.”
According to the news release, Wall has more than 20 years of experience in IT infrastructure and operational leadership. In his last position in Poway, he oversaw cybersecurity and infrastructure across the district’s 42 sites, earning the Association of California School Administrators Region 18’s Administrator of the Year Technology award in 2024.
In Solana Beach, Wall will support district operations and technology infrastructure, ensuring all facilities and classroom environments are educationally effective and safe.
Wall’s new position was created after a review and reorganization of the district’s maintenance, operations, and facilities departments. He will work alongside a director of maintenance and operations, a position currently open for recruitment.
