Social Security restored
A major victory was achieved when Congress passed, and President Joe Biden signed, the Social Security Fairness Act.
This action repealed the Windfall Elimination Provision and Government Pension Offset, which unfairly reduced the Social Security payments to a number of retired federal, state and local public employees including teachers and first responders.
Rightfully earned Social Security benefits will now be restored for millions of people who were previously denied full compensation over many years simply for being a dedicated government worker.
This was a long, hard-fought battle with the win due in large part to the relentless efforts of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, an organization with membership chapters available throughout the country to advocate for federal retirees as well as current employees.

Cryptocurrency is transforming global finance, and South Carolina has the opportunity to lead. With Sen. Tim Scott chairing the U.S. Senate Banking Committee, our state is in a prime position to shape policies that foster innovation while ensuring consumer protection.
The economic impact is already evident — bitcoin mining has injected millions into South Carolina’s economy. At the same time, blockchain ventures across South Carolina and North Carolina have attracted millions of dollars in investment. These investments create high-paying jobs, strengthen local economies and generate tax revenue that supports schools, infrastructure and essential services.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration is working to advance blockchain and cryptocurrency policies, setting the stage for further growth. With federal momentum building, South Carolina must act now to establish itself as a leader in this emerging industry. States such as Wyoming and Texas have shown that clear, pro-crypto policies attract investment and drive economic expansion. South Carolina can and should follow suit to remain competitive in the digital economy.
