Join Solana Beach Community Connections’ (SBCC’s) Writing Workshop for a series of four, two-hour sessions in a safe environment that encourages written expression. The Workshop meets on Fridays, May 2, 9, and 16 and then on Thursday, May 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Participants will gather in the Main Hall of La Colonia Park Community Center, located at 715 Valley Avenue, Solana Beach. The workshop is part of SBCC’s mission to support community engagement for mature adults in Solana Beach, according to a news release.
Back by popular demand, this is the fourth presentation of the writing workshop created by SBCC and Eberly Barnes. Enthusiastic participants had this to say about the workshop. “Great teacher, excellent at creating a safe space for us,” and “the dialogue exchange was my favorite part,” the news release stated.
Eberly Barnes, who currently manages a writing program for undergraduates at UC San Diego, will be the guide and instructor. In addition to her academic life as a writer and teacher, Barnes has worked as a speechwriter, freelance editor, and writer. She has published memoir stories and writes a blog.
Class size is limited to the first 15 registrants and signups are on a first-come, first-served basis. Others will be placed on a waiting list. Participants are expected to attend at least three of the four sessions. In each interactive section, participants will receive suggestions for topics, share their written reflections, and discuss with classmates and the instructor in a relaxed, social environment.
