TAKE a look at the budget-friendly sunshine spot three hours from Ireland with secluded beaches, famous caves and €35 Ryanair flights.
Nerja is a breathtaking coastal town located in Southern Spain.
The hottest month in Nerja is July, but temperatures have already reached 26C in spring, making it a perfect time to visit.
Pronounced Ner-ha, the town is one of the lesser-known destinations among Irish tourists and it's famous for its relaxing atmosphere, golden beaches and unspoiled nature.
And Ryanair flights from Dublin to Malaga, just under an hour’s drive away, start at only €35 this month.
Set along southern Spain’s Mediterranean coast, this coastal town attracts thousands each year from across Europe and beyond.
It is also one of the most affordable spots on the Costa del Sol, as the town is a much cheaper alternative to hotspots like Marbella or Almería.
The town is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, offering stunning views and loads of opportunities to swim or relax in the sun.
Water sports are also hugely popular in summer - and Nerja’s calm waters are ideal for kayaking, paddleboarding and diving.
Visitors can take a stroll along the Balcon de Europa – the town's famous viewpoint where you’ll see dramatic sea cliffs, palm trees and street performers.
Nearby, you’ll find some of the most beautiful beaches in Andalusia.
That includes Playa Burriana and Playa de Maro – both known for their soft sand, crystal waters and breathtaking surroundings.
From the coast, you can even hop on boat tours to explore hidden coves, sea caves or stroll along its famous cliffs.
Nerja also has a rich history, with the iconic Church of El Salvador and the ancient aqueduct El Aguila both located within the city.
For something truly unforgettable, head to the famous Nerja Caves – a vast network that feature prehistoric cave paintings.
And for those up for some more adventure, the nearby Sierra Almijara mountains offer rugged hiking trails and spectacular views across the coast.
The town also serves up incredible Spanish cuisine - especially paella, fried fish and tapas which can all be found in its many restaurants and cafes.
Beer and wine is also cheap, with visitors paying only around €3 for a pint or a glass.
These sunshine spots' beaches are what make it a true standout, and people have taken to TripAdvisor to share their experiences.
'One of our favourite places anywhere'
One person said: “This beach was spotless clean, there were lots of places to rent lounge chairs with parasols, lots of wonderful places to eat, rentals of all sorts for waters sports, and clear beautiful water.
“I will never forget the feeling of floating along on my raft in the refreshing water looking out into the sea and then back at the amazing mountains.
“A huge plus, it was within walking distance from a good part of the homes in the Nerja, on the bus route, and had a wonderful taxi stop at the curb just across the street.”
Another said: “We are lucky enough to travel extensively, but this would be one of our favourite places anywhere.
"Absolutely beautiful. It is a lovely place to spend long lazy days in the sunshine. Sunday is different when all the locals come down and it is absolutely packed.”
