The White Lotus
The White Lotus aired its overstuffed 90 minute finale last night, with the anthology finishing up season 3 of a (mostly) disconnected series, minus a character or two, and the hotel chain itself.
It was never really a question that The White Lotus would get a season 4. That was already greenlit back in January of 2025. But the problem here is going to be when we actually see that season, based on production times. We can estimate the season 4 release date, or at least window, based on the past two season’s gaps. So we have:
The White Lotus season 1 – July 2021
The White Lotus season 2 – October 2022
The White Lotus season 3 – February 2025
While the second season was only a breezy 1 year and 3 months after season 1, things really escalated with season 3, as that took nearly two and a half years (two years and four months). Using that same time period, that could mean The White Lotus season 4’s release date may not arrive until April of 2027, which would be an extremely long time.
The other issue is that while some shows with early renewals manage to get production started while the current season is still airing, that’s not even close to what’s happening with The White Lotus. A Deadline interview reveals that the show was still at the basic step of scouting locations back in February, where it was said that the show will likely air in Europe, and more recently, creator Mike White said they want to get away from the “crashing waves” the show has now employed across three tropical seasons now. It does seem like yes, it probably is a good time for a change.
